Water Polo: Sunday, December 28, 2014, Huntington Y
If its the week between Christmas and New Year's, it's time for our annual Water Polo "shoot-around". We really didn't have enough players show up for a "real" match but the action was still tiring. Just ask Don who was at the Y earlier for the 6:30AM workout (3,000 plus yards), then went for a 5 mile run and then at noon, came back to the Y for an hour of water polo. I guess somebody's due for a good sleep tonight!
Thanks again to the Y and especially Bob Miller -- not only for setting it up but for showing up while still recovering from this cough/fever thing that seems to be going around. Believe me, I know how it can put you down for the count as I missed almost 10 days of swimming just a few days before Christmas. My advice, don't get it, enjoy the polo pictures and we'll see you next year for the 2015 edition of Water Polo!

Some Inspiration From the Y's Strength Training Center
This inspirational slogan greeted us at the entrance to the Huntington YMCA Strength Training Center this morning: "The victory is not always to the swift, but to those who keep moving!"
As I don't seem to be getting any faster as the decades go by (slower, in fact, if one was to be totally honest), I take great comfort in just keeping moving! So, what are you waiting for... get up and start moving!

A Somewhat Un-Expected Saturday Morning Swim: November 15, 2014
It was a pretty casual Saturday morning swim at a time when no swim was actually on the printed schedule but very happy to have the regularly scheduled time available -- even if it was that mysterious event known as "WEEK 10"!

"Touch The Wall" Documentary to Debut November 15, 2014
Per NBC Olympic Talk, “Touch the Wall,” is a documentary film covering Missy Franklin‘s journey to the London Olympics. The film will debut November 15, 2014 at the Denver Film Festival.
Franklin, who won five medals and four golds in 2012, trained with 2004 and 2008 Olympian Kara Lynn Joyce in the run-up to the London Games. Joyce, a four-time Olympic relay silver medalist, also made the London Olympic team and did not reach the semifinals of her only event, the 50m freestyle. The film follows the different stories of Franklin and Joyce, who are separated by nine years.

Has Dr. Seuss Taken Over The Huntington Y?
Have you visited the Huntington Y recently?
Dr. Seuss characters are EVERYWHERE! They can even be found in the Albicocco Pool. However, they are very polite and take up very little room in the pool lanes!

Todd Rowley Back In The Pool After Running The 2014 Boston Marathon In 3:01
After running 26 Miles, 385 Yards (42.195K) in a time of 3 hours, one minute and 32 seconds on Monday April 20, 2015 in the World's Oldest Annual Marathon, Todd Rowley was back in the Huntington Y Pool this morning (Norton Pool), and took his usual close-to-the-front-of-the-line position with nary a complaint! Way to go Todd on the 3:01 -- NOT a PR but a very good time! Heck, I've been on the Long Island Expressway longer than that to cover a shorter distance!
