Olympic Gold Medal and Masters Swimmer Murray Rose

Murray Rose just died. He was Australia's champion distance swimmer in the 1950's and early 60's. He was also a swimmer that I tried to model my stroke after -- not as successfully as I would have wanted but style counts for something. Murray had both style and speed -- winning 3 Gold Medals in the 1956 Olympics held in Australia and then added a few more medals in the 1960 Rome Olympics. Swim On Murray, Swim On!

A Few Photos From Our Farewell To Andrew Party: April 13, 2012

No, that's NOT a halo behind Andrew but it is the pristine April 13th Commemorative Plate that was soon to be signed and presented to Andrew. A one-of-a-kind Commemorative Plate to be treasured for years to come... though we make no claims as to it's actual value. Or, dare we say it, it's chance to actually increase in value? Maybe it will, and maybe it won't. Our advice to Andrew. Hold it. Treasure it. But, don't eat off it because goodness knows where that black magic marker came from!

Yup. Here we prove it again, one picture is worth a thousand words!

Is Carol the spy who came in from the cold?
Or, is that the swimmer who came in from the cold?

BELOW: The formal presentation of the plate.

Hoist a "GoodBye" Toast to Andrew at Finley's on Friday, April 13th at 6PM

Put your goggles and swim cap away -- along with any fear of the number thirteen -- and join us Friday, April 13, 2012 at Finley's of Huntington, (or Finley's of Greene Street, take your choice for the pub's name!), as we wish Andrew good cheer and good luck as he heads off to Quantico, Virginia in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

A new and more glamorous job beckons and Andrew will be glad to tell you all about it on Friday, April 13, 2012.

We all plan on getting to Finley's at 43 Green Street in Huntington Village at 6PM this Friday -- early enough for Happy Hour!

If enough people show up and the drinks are good enough, it could make for an interesting Saturday morning workout. See you there! And, oh yeah, we get to tell Andrew one last time how much we'll miss him!

Are you a Triathlete? Do you train with us? Find out why you should from Olympian Jarrod Shoemaker.

And, NO, that's NOT our current Y Pool but we can dream... and having TWO pools and West Neck Beach kind of makes up for a few extra meters and a few extra lanes... doesn't it?
