Huntington Masters Swim Team

The Huntington Masters Swim Team ("HUMS"), an official club of US Masters Swimming, holds daily early-morning pool workouts year-round at the Huntington YMCA, 60 Main Street, Huntington (contact the Y at 631-421-4242 for Full Y membership fee information).

Indoor Pool Workouts in one of the Y’s two 25-yard pools begin at 5:30 a.m. weekdays and 7:00 a.m. weekends and last one to two hours. These workouts are open to all Full Y members.

Open-Water Swims are held from May to November at West Neck Beach and other local Long Island beaches. Outdoor swim schedules are posted on The Water-Blog.

Halloween 2008: Best Swim Related Costume Winner

Well, another Halloween has almost come and gone but it is not to late to announce this year's Best Swim Related Costume Winner and it is none other than our own Bob Miller in a striking Aquaman Costume.

One look at Bob's incredible costume and you know why the decision was so easy to make! 

Will anyone else step up to the plate in 2009 and give Bob a "swim" for his money?

AquaFit Masters Swim Meets for 2008-2009 Season

AquaFit Masters will be hosting three short course Masters swim meets during the 2008-2009 season at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow on Long Island.  Originally built in 1998 to host the Goodwill Games, the Aquatic Center features a stretch 50-meter pool with diving section and is separated into multiple short course meter & short course yard courses with adjacent warm-up lanes for competition.
 
Sunday 23 November 2008 - Annual SC Meter Fall Classic
Sunday 25 January 2009 - Annual Winter Blitz Yard Meet
Sunday 15 March 2009 - Annual Spring Fling Yard Meet
 
FINAL entry RECEIPT deadline for each of the above meets is TEN days before event date.

Did You Hear the One About the HOT Pool? (Or, How Hot Was It?)

Trainers and coaches say relaxation is crucial to a strong performance, and tension only serves to diminish an athlete's performance.
