A Note From Simon Re: Sunday's 6.7 Magnitude Quake in Hawaii

I received the following email note from Simon Late Sunday Night, Oct 15, 2006:

All is well with everyone on the Island as you may have heard by now. Nancy and Mary Ellen were on their way, walking, to the beach for a swim. Locals were not going in the water and they, unlike many other athletes, followed local precautions. We were in our time share when the house started shaking. We did not think it was all that bad when the big one hit. I don’t think we realized fully what was happening. When the significant but weaker aftershock hit we were much faster at exiting the house.

There is not much visible damage around town, a few walls have collapsed and some rocks rolled out on the road here and there. We are however wondering what will happen next Saturday. The upper part of the bike course has some big cracks in it.

Thanx for the concern.

All the best
