A Pre New Year's Eve Get Together at Meehans: December 30, 2011
In what has become an annual tradition, a few of us Huntington Masters Swimmers and West Neck Beach "Poddies" got together at Meehan's in BUSY downtown Huntington, NY. A lot of the "regulars" were missing. But let's face it, it was and is a BIG travel and party week. Those who came had a fine time and got to meet my granddaughter Thora in person -- sorry no pictures of Thora here, (I was to busy showing her off!), but if you are on FB you might occasionally notice me posting a picture or two... or three... or more!
And, oh yeah, here's one of the reasons Huntington was so busy on Friday night, PITBULL was playing at the new Paramount Theater!

2011 Christmas Eve Swim at The Huntington Y
What better way to start Christmas Eve than getting down to the Huntington Y with a few of your closest friends and swim three or four thousand yards -- this might be the most relaxing time we'll have for the next 24 hours or so! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Pre-New Year's Eve Get Together Scheduled for Friday, December 30th at Meehan's
Get set to "belly-up" to the bar at Meehan's of Huntington! We plan to gather around 6pm or so on Friday night, December 30, 2011
Why 6pm on Friday night? Well, Saturday is New Year's Eve and we don't want to be out too late the night before! We've already got swim practice starting Saturday morning at 7am followed by our annual Water Polo event that same afternoon from 1 to 3pm -- it promises to be a busy Saturday, December 31, 2011 -- so why not start it out right the night before with a drink or two with your Swim friends (and spouses) at Meehan's!

Swim Team Christmas Party: December 4, 2011
Some new faces and some old faces joined in this years Holiday Brunch on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Black & Blue Restaurant in Huntington, NY. We have been getting together for our annual Y Swimmers Brunch since the 1980's. As do many things, the exact start date of our first brunch escapes both Bob and my memories. But whatever the year was of that first Christmas Brunch, I know that for me at least, the Swim Brunch always seems to signal the real start of the Holiday Season! Time to think about buying the tree. Time to really start shopping. Yes, I know many of you are already finished but for someone who used to wait until Christmas Eve... well, shopping two or three weeks in advance is a real luxury -- as was this year's brunch!
