Bill Rowe -- We'll miss you
Bill Rowe passed away this morning (December 2, 2004). All of us that knew him truly felt blessed. He was a local, state, national and world record holder in Masters competition. When he was 84, he couldn't wait to turn 85 and "age up" and set more records. He then turned in a blazing 33.07 for a 50 free. He was always willing to help novice swimmers with their stroke. He swam his whole life, even when he was in the Marine Corps. He was a fine gentleman and will be truly missed.

2004 Holiday Brunch
2004 Holiday Brunch has been scheduled!
Location: The Ketewomoke Yacht Club in Halesite
Date: Sunday, December 5, 2004 at noon
The Huntington Masters Swim Team Entertainment Committee decided to have a brunch this year for the awards ceremony and to cancel the dinner. Right now the tentative date will be Sunday, December 5th at noon. It will be held at the Ketewomoke Yacht Club in Halesite. We had a party there a few years ago...good time. Anyway, it will be a mostly catered affair and will have unlimited Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, wine, beer, etc. We are also looking into having door prizes, etc. Should be fun, as there will be plenty of room to roam, chat, eat, relax and no real time restrictions!
We are looking at a price of $25 per person and that includes everything. So mark your calendar now. As usual, spouses and significant others are more than welcome. A sign-up sheet will be going up in early November. You MUST prepay at least a week or so before the party so we know how much food, etc., to get.
The HUMS Awards Nominating Committee is also looking for nominees for the following categories:
Male Swimmer of the Year
Female Swimmer of the Year
Male Triathlete of the Year
Female Triathlete of the Year

Ian's bon voyage party: Sunday, Aug. 15th
Our super-duper breastroker and triathlete, Ian Silversmith, is moving to Rhode Island at the end of this month. We are planning on having a “bon voyage” party on Sunday, August 15th, starting at 2 p.m. It will be at Ken Longo’s home. Ken is providing charcoal and some hamburgers, hot dogs & steak. Please bring whatever meat you want (hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, etc.) and buns. Also, if you could bring a salad or side dish if your last name is from A to M, and bring a dessert if your last name begins with N to Z. This is a BYOB event. Children and spouses are more than welcome.
No need to sign up, just show up. Directions will be forthcoming.
We are still planning to have the party in the fall.
